U10s Enjoy Derbyshire Festival

Teams from Yorkshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire took part in the Derbyshire U10s Cricket Festival 2013 held at Repton School over the weekend.

4 counties enjoy DCB U10 Festival at Repton

Established in 2010, this annual event is designed to help each player learn more about themselves, their game and how they can develop into the best player possible by giving them a taste of life as a top class cricketer both on and off the field.

For many of the young cricketers this was their first festival and as we’re great believers that the best habits start from an early age, in addition to the matches on Friday and Saturday (unfortunately the rain meant the pitches were unplayable on Sunday), they also had opportunities to improve skills in training sessions as well as taking part in workshops on strength and conditioning and the Spirit of Cricket.

Here's a small selection of photos from the event, with kind thanks to the Sports Shots team:

Social Teams Wanted For Last Man Stands

We're looking for 8-a-side social teams to play 2 hour, Last Man Stands games in Derby. Last Man Stands is a fast, fun way to play cricket and their T20-style games are taking place in Derby on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Social Teams wanted for Derby Last Man Stand matches

The format's quirky rules include 8 a side teams, 5 ball overs, the possibility of 2 batsmen being dismissed with the same ball, a 6 on the last ball being worth 12 plus the last man standing (yes, you guessed it) plays on his own. You can even see your world-wide ranking on the Last Man Stands website, http://www.lastmanstands.com/playcricketderbyshire!

Matches in Derby will run from 6.15pm-8.15pm at Alvaston & Boulton Cricket Club (Rainsway) on Thursdays and at Rolls Royce Cricket Club (Moor Lane) on Fridays.
