The final of the Premier Cup took place at Spondon CC on Sunday 1st September between Ticknall CC and Swarkestone CC. Swarkestone won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Swarkestone got Ticknall to 21-1 at the end of the 5th over with Paul Borrington (10) being the wicket to fall. However, they recovered nicely to 192/2 before the second wicket of Tom Wood (63) fell in the 43rd over. After a brilliant innings of 153 off 139 balls, Joss Morgan fell to Ben Hutchinson (4-60) with the score at 257/3 with 3 overs remaining. At the end of the 50 overs, Ticknall finished on 273/4 with Anoop Chima (10*) chipping in at the end.

With a good score on the board, Ticknall made a decent start getting Swarkestone to 30-1 with the wicket of Thomas Hamilton (17) in the 8th over. The next wicket fell at 48-2 with Archie Moore (19) gone in the 14th over. After already starring with the ball, Ben Hutchinson put in a good 27 to keep the score ticking with Harvey Hosein before he fell with the score on 117-4. Nils Priestley stuck around with Hosein putting on a good 42 making a 101 run partnership. Hosein fell for a well-made 83 at 225-7, with 48 runs required off of 8 overs. In the end, Swarkestone reached the target with 2 overs remaining. Pick of the bowlers for Ticknall were; Damion Williams (3-52), Sam Trotman (2-60), and Jack Gorbert (2-65).

Women’s Softball Update

Langley Mill CC hosted the final Women’s Softball Festival of the summer on Sunday. It was a great day for all 9 teams involved, playing at least 3 games each. We had teams from; Hilton, Ilkeston, Langley Mill, Long Eaton, Denby, and 2 teams from Notts team Eastwood; making it over 70 women taking part in the day!

There was music playing throughout the day, face painting, prosecco, and lots of food available including curry!!

Even though Long Eaton were the standout team winning all 4 of their games, it was good to see new teams taking part along with the other already established teams. It was a great way to finish off an exciting summer of Women’s Softball Cricket!!

A big thankyou to Langley Mill CC for doing a great job at hosting!!
