Two 20 over matches were played in varying weather conditions ranging from rain to brilliant bright sunshine at Etwall CC on Tuesday 28th May 2019.

Match 1:

Shropshire won the toss and elected to bowl.
Clarke & Dawson put on 38 for the first wicket before Dawson departed for 25 which brought Dent to the crease. Another solid partnership ended when Clarke was dismissed with the score on 68.
Jones joined Dent and the two of them shared a partnership of of 62 before Jones went for 23.
Dent saw the innings out carrying his bat for a sharp, crisp, chance less innings of 69 out of 167-4 against some very good Shropshire bowling.

The Derbyshire bowlers then set about the task and tight bowling coupled with some very fine fielding resulted in Shropshire being dismissed for 74. All the bowlers took a wicket each with Siddall, Kelly & Dawson taking 2 a-piece, Siddall being the pick of the bowlers returning figures of 2 for 7.

Match 2:

Shropshire won the toss again and on this occasion elected to bat.
The Derbyshire opening bowling partnership of Hurst and Siddall coupled with some excellent fielding had Shropshire reeling at 12 for 4. However a fine partnership of 65 between Jeffries and Cornwall turned the tie in Shropshire’s favour with Jeffries reaching his 50 with nicely timed six over mid wicket.
When Jeffries was out for 62, Potter continued onwards with 16 very valuable runs enabling Shropshire to attain 116 for 7 wickets in their allotted overs.
Pick of the bowlers was Dawson with 3-22 and Siddall with 2-7.

Derbyshire’s reply was measured against some very good tight Shropshire bowling.
Fry and Kelly both made double figures before they departed leaving Cokayne with 27 and Dawson on 37 not out to see Derbyshire over the line at 117 for 5 in the 18th over.

Congratulations to George Siddall, Jimmy Fry and Nikhil Davies on making their Derbyshire debuts and putting in some fine performances.

Some scintillating cricket played by two very good teams within the spirit of the game and a big thank you to Jon Salisbury and Adam Hitchcock for umpiring the two matches.
