DCB Club Support Evenings 2017

Instead of the annual Club support evening, the DCB this year opted for a wider approach in order to reach out to more of our cricket clubs in Derbyshire. The idea of having 5 nights spread across the county was to share the current offers and information to benefit as many clubs as possible. This proved extremely popular with over 200 volunteers from 70 clubs and coaches organisations attending the 5 events. The evenings were led by Mick Glenn and were broken down into workshops for members of each club to split up and engage in different topics.

Newly appointed Head of DCB Richard Wood hosted a Women & Girls and Wider Opportunities workshop which was aimed at sharing opportunities and ideas for growth and providing ways of engaging different audiences within clubs.

James Colton & Tom Coxhead delivered a workshop around the Community Programme including Chance to Shine and All Stars Cricket and how clubs can and have benefited from these programmes.

The third Workshop available was around ECB funding and club support delivered by Mick Glenn and Sue Redfern (ECB Club & Facilities Manager for East Midlands).

Mick Glenn who led all five evenings said, “We were really pleased to see the amount of clubs in attendance, with everyone hopefully taking some key information back to help their club.”

The DCB would like to thank the Clubs who hosted the evenings:

  • Glossop Cricket Club (High Peak)
  • Denby Cricket Club (Amber Valley)
  • Staveley Cricket Club (Chesterfield)
  • Melbourne Sporting Partnership (South Derbyshire)
  • Matlock Town Football Club (Derbyshire Dales)
