DCB U11's win Shrewsbury Festival |
When
you need to win the last match of a tournament and you are 40 for 6
against Huntingdonshire, with your top 6 batsmen out, what thoughts
go through the head of an 11 year old? I would suggest that this is
hard question to answer even in normal circumstances! Whatever went
through their heads, their actions demonstrated some fight in their
bellies as our Derbyshire boys nudged, scampered and then smashed
their way to 160.

The young squad

Four from U15's make it into
Midlands Squad |
 |
Four
players from the Derbyshire U15 side have been selected to play for
the Midlands U15 Squad at the Bunbury Festival in Cheshire later
this month. Michael Mitchell, Harry White, Greg Cork and Adam
Wheatcroft were all selected after a lengthy and rigorous process of
trials over the last few months. Michael Mitchell will have the
added responsibility of captaining the side against the 3 other
regions between 26th and 30th July when they will play 50 over
matches and 20/20 games at the end of the week. Mini Academy Head
Coach, Howard Dytham, said "This is an absolutely fantastic
achievement for all 4 lads. Michael, Greg and Harry have worked so
hard all winter on the Mini Academy programme whilst Adam is still
enjoying his first season in County Age Group cricket and has
started really well. To have 4 players from Derbyshire in a squad of
14 is brilliant." |

Under 10's bounce back in record
style!! |
A
determined U10s wrote history (at least according to the records on
play-cricket!) today by becoming the first Derbyshire team at this
age group to score over 200 in an innings. A truly outstanding
effort off only 30 overs. The foundation was laid by an excellent
opening stand of 65 between openers Ben Chapman-Lilley (23) and
Nathan Snookes (43), followed by a punishing partnership of 85 for
the fourth wicket by Alfie Gleadall (45) and Raza Ahmed (35).
Between these four batsmen 18 boundaries were scored and this was
matched by running between wickets of the highest standard......

CRB (Vetting
Checks) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) |
 |
You may be aware that
the Government announced a review of the Vetting and Barring Scheme

to allow the new Government to conduct a remodelling of the scheme.
A significant level of advanced planning for the ISA registration
scheme has been undertaken and the CRB had already designed and
