Derbyshire Cricket Board
Reward and Recognition Event 2013 |
|
It’s the time of year
again when we take time to reward our volunteers and
community coaches for the hard work they do throughout the
year. The DCB annual Reward and Recognition Event will take
place on Thursday, 15th August when Derbyshire
Falcons take on Durham Dynamos in a floodlit Yorkshire Bank
40 overs game. The event will once again be held in the
Marquee Banqueting Suite and is sure to be a memorable and
enjoyable evening. Please make a note of the date in your
diaries. Click on the buttons below to download a nomination
form.

The criteria for making
nominations into the OSCA’s has changed slightly for 2013.
We would ask you when making your nominations to nominate a
maximum of one candidate per category rather than several
candidates for the same category.
Please send your
nominations in to
jacqui.hendrick@derbyshireccc.com.
The final date for receiving nominations is Monday, 15th
July – we look forward to receiving them.

"A Shot at the Pro's" |
|
In 2012 Sky launched
‘Shot at the Pros’ as a feature on Cricket AM, the feature
was so successful that Sky will be featuring it again this
year. Click on the link below to view the promotional
video.

Yorkshire and
Warwickshire are on board for this year’s competition. They
will each have one of the two winners to train with them.
To have the chance to take part there is a trial day at
Loughborough on the 14th June where the 10 best entrants get
whittled down to the winning two.
It’s really easy to
enter. All people have to do is record a short video on
their phones explaining why they deserve their “shot at the
pros” with a few details about their cricketing ability and
achievements.
If they then head to
www.skysports.com/cricketam they will see details on how
to upload their video and enter the competition. It was a
huge success last year and the two winners - Mubasher Hassan
and Will Purser really enjoyed the time they spent with Kent
and Middlesex CCC. This is a great opportunity for any young
cricketer to potentially train with some professional
players. |

Project Front Foot |
|
We
are continuing our support of Project Front Foot this year
and are looking for any old/used child-sized cricket kit and
equipment we can donate to them. This initiative
provides cricket coaching and kit to the very poorest
children in Mumbai and beyond so adding a little joy and
quality to lives that have precious little.
Please see the message below from Victor Mills Project
Coordinator of Project Front Foot.
“It's that time of year again when our hunt for obsolete,
end of range, and plain old redundant stock - for our Summer
2013 Kit Appeal - begins in earnest. The measure of all such
undertakings, so I'm told, is impact. Judge for yourself
from the attachments the impact and immediate transformation
donated kit had on the Dharavi slum children last November.
I'm delighted to report that the project's fourth season in
Mumbai, which still has two months to run, has been a story
of continued success. This, again, due in no small part to
our coaches, Bhavana and Harshad, who were ably supported by
Peter Woolcock, a sports graduate from Liverpool University.
Peter added a new dimension to the coaching with innovative
games and drills together with his fitness tests...

Champions Trophy Report -
Chris Corns |
|
I would just like to
take the opportunity to thank all the clubs who turned out
for the DCB Champions Trophy semi-final group games on
Sunday on a mainly dry but cold day, the only spots of rain
we had were at Brailsford in the late afternoon but we
managed to complete all of the games on the day. I visited
all three match locations to watch at least some part of the
games taking place and I think I also managed to talk to all
of the coaches at some point during the day.
In the U15 section which
took place at Alvaston and Boulton's ground Barton won their
game with Denby and Duffield won their game with Clowne. So
Barton and Duffield will progress to the final which will be
at Duffield CC on Sunday 28 with 14:30 start.
In the U13 section
Ticknall won the only game in their group against Duffield
at Denby's ground and so Ticknall progress to the final. In
the other U13 group there were three teams competing at
Brailsford's ground and with both Elvaston and Chesterfield
defeating Mickleover it was down to the last game to decide
the finalists and in a close game Elvaston just managed to
beat Chesterfield in the last over to reach the final. The
U13 final will therefore be between Ticknall and Elvaston
and will take place at Belper Meadows CC on Sunday 28 April
with a 13:30 start.
In both finals teas will
be provided between innings for players and officials. I
haven't had the courage to look at the weather forecast yet
but fingers crossed for another dry day.
I hope all of the teams
enjoyed their experience of playing against teams from other
junior leagues in this competition and all being well with a
fair following wind we will repeat this again next year.
