Sky Sports Awards 2011 |
|
One of Derbyshire’s nominations for the 2011 Sky
Sports Coach Awards, Kev Wilson, was rewarded recently when he
travelled to Lords for the National Awards presentation in the Long
Room. Kev, who coaches at Denby
Cricket
Club, was put forward by his club and Amber Valley District
Development Group for his outstanding contribution towards
revitalising Denby’s U11 hardball section. Seen here (photo)
receiving his nomination as the East Midlands Region entry into the
competition at Edgbaston Kev said,
‘All I
can
say about Lords is what a fantastic experience being
in the Long Room. I feel proud having made the last eight out of
45,000 Coaches in the country’
Sam Moseley from Breadsall Cricket Club was nominated
by his club and Erewash District Development Group didn’t miss out
either. He was invited for the day to the National Performance
Centre at Loughborough as Derbyshire’s nominee in the ‘Young Coach
of the Year’ category. 18 year old Sam, who is a ‘regular’ in
Breadsall’s junior coaching set up said, ‘The
day was a fantastic reward for me and a day that I fully enjoyed,
from the minute I got there until I left. Everyone on hand at the
Centre was extremely kind and approachable and it was a day I will
never forget. It has inspired me even more so to continue working on
my coaching and aim for the very top.'
The Sky Sports
Coach Awards were launched at the beginning of 2007 as a way of
saying thank you to people who have made a significant contribution
to the support and development of coaches and coaching in cricket. |

Last Man Stands - spread the word |
The
DCB will be running a Last Man Stands (LMS) Franchise in Derby City
in 2012. LMS is a nationwide project where leagues are organised for
people to participate in informal cricket leagues.
Players can arrive on an informal
basis and play. If you would like to be involved in Last Man Stands
in any capacity whether it be scoring, umpiring, administrating or
playing get in touch.
If you know any businesses who
would like to play in the league this is a fantastic opportunity.
Likewise, LMS provides a great opportunity for parents to play
cricket.
The Last Man Stands League will
commence this summer. If you would like to enter a team or for more
details please contact Adam Burgess, Cricket Development Officer,

Injuries aren’t something anybody wants to think
about but they do happen!
The treatment you receive during this phase is a
vital part of speed and quality of recovery.
Cricket injuries aren’t always easily diagnosed and
treated by physiotherapists from other sports. The opening of James
Pipe’s Physiotherapy Clinic, previously Derbyshire’s 1st
team keeper and current 1st team physio has created an
opportunity for all players to access somebody with a specialist
knowledge in cricket.
Click on the link to transfer to James’s website for
