Social Cricket

As well as the more traditional forms of cricket, there are now new formats of the game to help you enjoy playing cricket, whatever your ability, age or time you have available.

The social cricket available in Derbyshire includes:

Last Man Stands

Derbyshire Cricket Board runs Last Man Stands games across the city. This fast-paced, T20 style format is ideal for time-poor players wanting a game after work and club players looking for additional mid-week matches. Games are currently taking place in Derby on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Social Teams wanted for Derby Last Man Stand matches

The format's quirky rules include 8 a side teams, 5 ball overs, the possibility of 2 batsmen being dismissed with the same ball, a 6 on the last ball being worth 12 plus the last man standing (yes, you guessed it) plays on his own. You can even see your world-wide ranking on the Last Man Stands website, http://www.lastmanstands.com/playcricketderbyshire!

Matches in Derby run from 6.15pm-8.15pm at Alvaston & Boulton Cricket Club (Rainsway) on Thursdays and at Rolls Royce Cricket Club (Moor Lane) on Fridays.

For a quick introduction to this form of the game, watch the video below, which features Last Man Stands on a recent edition of Cricket AM.

So if you and some mates fancy a game; colleagues want a way to wind-down after work or you're looking for a way to get back into the game, give Richard Wood a call on 01332 388131 or email richard.wood@derbyshireccc.com.
