DCB Coach Education: Coach Development Workshops                        

The primary target audience for the Coach Development Workshops are coaches who have attended the new UKCC2 course. These workshops are designed to act as “stepping stones” for individuals who wish to work towards attending either the UKCC3 course or the Club Coach Course

These workshops are designed to act as 'Stepping Stones' for individuals who either wish to work towards attending either the ECB Head Coach (UKCC3) course or the ECB Club Coach course.

CDW 1 – Working with Batters 1

The aim of this workshop is to develop coaches' understanding of a wider range of batting shots as well as building upon key observation and analysis skills.  There is a reinforcement of the key batting stages identified at ECB Coach level and an introduction to pre-delivery movements.

Communication skills and technical knowledge are key components of this workshop.

The workshop duration is 3 hours.

CDW 2 – Working with Batters 2

The aim of this workshop is to develop coaches' understanding of the practical use of video analysis utilising their observation and analysis skills and providing guidelines for the use of cameras.

The workshop also gives coaches the opportunity to discuss key tactical considerations for batsmen and how training methods can be developed to help train tactical awareness.

The workshop duration is 3 hours.

                                                 

CDW 3 – Working with Bowlers

This workshop concentrates on practical guidelines for the use of video cameras when working with both pace and spin bowlers.

Coaches are introduced to some drills that could help develop their bowlers' technique.

The workshop duration is 3 hours.

 

 

 

 

 

 

CDW 4 – Working in the nets

This workshop gives coaches the chance to build on their previous experiences of managing net sessions and develops coaches' understanding of the skills associated with effective net coaching.

Different ways of using nets are covered and methods for the same and effective use of bowling machines.The workshop duration is 3 hours.

 

 

 

CDW 5 – Working with Wicket Keepers and Fielders

This workshop allows coaches the opportunity to consider how to coach wicket keepers and fielders and develop new drills.

Specialist fielding techniques are explored ranging from slip catching techniques to specialist retrieval methods.

The workshop duration is 3 hours.

 

 

 

 


CDW 6 – Working with Teams

This workshop introduces the concept of coaching a team on match day.  There is a session on pre-match preparation as well as discussing the role of the coach during the match itself.

There is an opportunity to run some specific pre-match warm up games.

The second half of the workshop concentrates on some of the training methods that coaches can use with an emphasis on how to develop small-sided games as well as how to plan training nights for large groups of players.

The workshop duration is 3 hours.
