| Coach Education in Derbyshire - Courses and Workshops
Welcome to the Coach Education page. The following information gives details of the Coaching Courses and Workshops which are planned throughout Derbyshire during 2009. Dates and venues will be posted on this website and sent out directly to Clubs/Coaches as and when they are finalised. Cricket Young Leaders Target Audience: 14-18 year olds The aim of the Cricket Young Leaders Award is to raise the profile of cricket within a Young Leadership role, inspire Young Leaders to get actively involved with cricket and help provide additional support for Kwik Cricket tournaments. Get Involved Certificate: Once a candidate has completed 10 hours of voluntary time the individual can choose to receive a 'Get Involved' certificate. This certificate can then be used for evidence in logging volunteer hours for a range of volunteer and sports leadership awards e.g. Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, CSLA, JSLA UKCC1 Coaching AssistantThe course is aimed at beginner coaches who will be able to ‘assist more qualified coaches, delivering aspects of coaching sessions, normally under direct supervision’. This role may include running warm ups, cool downs, small sided games and small group work. The course is essentially designed for parents and volunteers starting on the coaching pathway. The course will help coaches prepare for, deliver and review cricket coaching sessions. It will enable them to:
Training Methods Workshop **NEW**This 2-3 hour workshop has been designed to help coaching assistants manage (under direct supervision from a more qualified coach) players within a net environment. It will also enable coaching assistants to consider when players would benefit from working in the nets as well as providing alternative training activities. It will enable coaching assistants to:
UKCC2 Coach AwardThe role of the ECB Coach Award (UKCC 2) holder is to be able to: “Prepare for, deliver and review coaching sessions” This course will help you to be able to:
Coach Development WorkshopsThe primary target audience for the new Coach Development Workshops are coaches who have attended the new UKCC2 course. These workshops are designed to act as “stepping stones” for individuals who wish to work towards attending either the UKCC3 course or the Club Coach Course (available from September 2007). Coaches can also access these as CPD (Continual Professional Development). A certificate of attendance will be issued for each workshop attended. These workshops will include content similar to the previous ECB Level II course but new developments have meant that we can include some updated information that we feel is valuable for coaches at this level. CDW 1 – Developing Batters

Club Coach Award **NEW**The ECB Club Coach qualification is designed for coaches working in club and school environments who have access and responsibility for the development of players in addition to improving and driving forward their coaching skills. The prerequisites for coaches wishing to attend a Club Coach Assessment Day are:
Qualification Details: The assessment will be based upon information delivered in the Coach Development Workshops and a Club Coach Information Booklet containing additional information specific to the Club Coach role which will be sent to coaches before their assessment day. Coaches will be assessed on their ability to observe and analyse players through video analysis. They will also be assessed on how well they are able to work with a small group of players on tactical development in a net situation. During this net session, they will be assessed on their ability to apply information shared through the workshops. This includes communication skills and the ability to observe and analyse player performance in practice scenarios. |
