Club Welfare Officers

Safehands logo

All cricket clubs have an obligation to appoint a Club Welfare Officer, irrespective as to whether or not they have a junior section at their club. These officers have a remit to provide advice on Safeguarding issues and to ensure that the club adheres to all aspects of Safeguarding. The Club Welfare Officer should attend an ECB Safe Hands Workshop as well as a ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ workshop accredited by Sportscoach UK.

Safe Hands Workshops in Derbyshire are run by DCB with Angela Gregson, County Welfare Officer. The workshops are run on evenings at locations across the county, between March and April each year, in response to levels of need identified by leagues.

The booking system is a fully on-line process whereby the club attendee reserves and pays for their place on the course staged for clubs in their league. The system is the ECB Cvent booking system now being used for all ECB education programmes (Coach Ed, Officials, etc.).
